Scavello to Hold Identity Theft and Cyber Safety Forum
Rep. Mario Scavello (R-Monroe) will be hosting an Identity Theft and Fraud presentation from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. on Thursday, May 20, at the Loder Senior Center located at 62 Analomink St. in East Stroudsburg.
The program will feature a presentation by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General on the types of scams and frauds used in identity thefts. The presentation will also help seniors understand the risks of surfing the Internet.
“Cyber criminals seem to be coming up with new scams and frauds each year, each one aimed at bilking people of their money illegally,” said Scavello. “So it pays to stay knowledgeable about ways to protect your identity in a world increasingly dominated by social media, the Internet and online shopping.
This forum will provide tips on how to protect personal information online, how to prevent identity theft and what to do in the event their identity is stolen. This informational session is free to all seniors.
For more information or to register for the free forum, please contact Scavello’s district offices at 31 Pocono Blvd. in Mount Pocono, phone (570) 839-0313; and at 556 Main St. in the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce building in Stroudsburg, phone (570) 420-1168.
